Healing happens in Social Engagement.

Social Engagement aka Ventral Vagal is the newest branch of the vagus nerve. It’s the first place we turn to when a stressor (threat) arises.

If our needs for safety and connection aren’t met in Social Engagement, that’s when we drop into Sympathetic (fight/flight) and eventually into Shutdown (freeze).

Healing without social support is… challenging at best.

Not only is it important to have friends and family as support, but equally as important to have a somatic coach or therapist.

The role of friends/family and a coach are very different.

For example, friends and family are wonderful to turn to when we need a favor but it’s unrealistic to expect our friends and family to guide us in stress healing work.

I wanted to share with you a brief guided somatic practice that was inspired by a recent student session.

This is an introductory somatic practice of connecting to emotions in the body, or recognizing the truth of what you are feeling and experiencing… this is step 1 of my Somatic Bliss Method

In this practice, we flow through sadness and forgiveness.

I hope this practice brings you awareness, support and healing.

if you loved this practice and desire more, apply for 1:1 somatic coaching.

infinite love,
Stephanie
